Upon the end of the National State of Disaster, a new set of regulations was implemented for SRD grants. A result of this change was that beneficiaries had to reapply.

Following the opening of SRD grant applications online on 23 April, Sassa announced that the WhatsApp line would be open for applications as well.

Sassa announced on Monday morning that a WhatsApp line has been set up for R350 grant applications:

For their application to be considered or approved, SRD grant applicants must consent to Sassa verifying their identity, residency, income, social security benefits, and other information. As well as accepting the declaration and consent, the applicant must also sign them.

Following an application through srd.sassa.gov.za, SASSA advises clients not to reapply using WhatsApp.

SRD grant means tests are conducted monthly to determine if clients are still eligible for the grant. Financial institutions will be used by Sassa to conduct its means test.

A client can also check the website for grant eligibility every three months.
